Verified hostAbout this experience
Drift through the narrow, hidden canals of Poovar Island — a place where the big houseboats simply cannot reach. This is Kerala's real backwater, untouched and unhurried. Your guide Rajesh was born on this island. He'll take you through mangrove-lined waterways to see traditional coir (coconut fibre) making, toddy tapping from coconut palms, and local fish farming. Stop at a village home for fresh karimeen (pearl spot fish) cooked in banana leaf, served with tapioca and coconut chutney. An authentic experience you won't find on any tourist map. Small canoes only — maximum 4 people for an intimate experience.
